Carnival 2021

What’s there to say about Carnival 2021? Remembering the repercussions of an entire season of Mardi Gras-oriented superspreader events last spring, the festivities for which New Orleans is famous were largely canceled this year. Of course, being a large community of creatives, locals found ways to get into more socially distant carnival spirit in the form of elaborately decorated house floats. And while the Quarter was a ghost town compared to the ordinary Fat Tuesday bacchanal that takes place there, some costumed revelers still took to the streets to mark the occasion.

(Oh right– it was also hovering right around the freezing point for most of the day, as if Mother Nature herself was telling us to behave!)
